Burma to Myanmar

Venue: The British Museum
3D Design: Peter Macdermid
Lighting Design: Lewis Hannaby for Beam Lighting Design

Photography: British Museum

Inspired by Myanmar’s architecture and light, the gallery bathes warm timber structures in sun-toned ambience that throws delicate lattice shadows across the floor, evoking open, sunlit courtyards. A vast curved wall is animated with six bespoke gobos derived from key object forms, binding the lighting language to the collection. Precise, conservation-minded keys keep lacquer, gilding and textiles serene and legible.
